I'm the average broke college student living with a family member, not my parents, I live with my 89-year-old grandma. I love her dearly and will never say no whenever she needs anything.
I love her to bits, as you can see, but while I live here, let me tell you about the stuff in her attic that I always feel is, I don't know, alive or something. I know it's crazy, but these little things, make me wish I didn't love her as much as I do.
1: Marionette Dolls
Dolls are already creepy, as everyone knows, and she has those too, but I would rather those dolls than her Marionette dolls. The dolls are oddly lifelike, they even have tiny pores and eyelids that can be opened or closed. Whenever I'm up there I swear I can see them breathing, or something similar. Grandma tells me she used to perform with them when she was younger, that was one of what got her money even to buy her house now. I don't know if I'll need to write this, but if anything happens, I'll write it at the end of this journal. Next.
2: Clothes That Aren't Hers
Grandma has so many trunks full of clothes, now, my grandmother doesn't have any memory problems like Dementia, Alzheimer, or anything like that. The most she has is Arthritis, so it's hard for her to move. I remember calling down to her, jokingly, and asking whose clothes were in the trunk because it seemed like multiple families worth. And she responded, "Them, long long ago." She didn't say anything after that and just fell asleep. I later came down with each trunk one by one, and we went through the clothes together, with each clothing piece she would say a name. "How do you remember all these people grandma?" I asked. "This seems like it was from a while ago." She just looked up at me and said.
"I don't know any of them." She looked me dead in the eyes. "I just know their names."
3: Masks.
Like her weird Marionette Dolls, Grandma loves her masks. The kind of masks that cover your whole face, like the ones in The Purge. But they're from the late 60s, I never knew it was a big thing then t have creepy baby doll masks, but she has hundreds of them in a corner.
When I was about 10, I asked her why she had so many masks, she said they were from her time working as a ventriloquist so that no one could see her face. Which makes sense, but looking through her old pictures, she only used one mask. The Drama mask, you know, the half happy half sad face. But she has one that looks like a baby, a wolf, some of them are wooden, some are plastic, and some are made from this weird stiff fleshy texture. As I looked at them for this entry, I swear I saw a fleshy one move its mouth.
4: Mascot Costumes
My Grandmother isn't a fan of sports, and she's never had a relationship with, or ever been a sports mascot, but she seems to have quite the variety for the fact that she has always hated sports. Such a weird thing to collect. She has a bear, a wolf, a lion, a hawk, an eagle, and some human ones.
Listen, there is so much more, but they've all come to life, I need help. I'm just a college student that can't even buy ramen without my card getting declined. I'm currently hiding in an old wardrobe in the attic, I'm scared I'm not alone, but I don't want to check. If someone could please help, once I find an opening to leave, I'm jumping my ass out of here. If you're seeing this, I've made it out, but I may just run forever, this is so terrifying, the lost clothes have people walking in them, the masks are above and below, the dolls of all kinds are walking around, along with the mascots. The second I'm out, I'm not stopping until I know I'm safe.
They're screaming my name.
